Thank you everyone who came, performed, saw and heard Noise of Art’s celebrations of 100 years of electronic music in April – celebrating 100 years since Luigi Russolo played his first concert.
“They all referred back to Luigi Russolo, so he was the first…
“Pierre Schaffer referred to Russolo, and then Stockhausen took reference from Pierre Henry – this is the food chain.” Karl Bartos, ex Kraftwerk.
We are very grateful for support from the Arts Council and all the venues. These include The National Portrait Gallery, The British Film Institute, Bar Concrete at Hayward Gallery, Big Chill House, The Social, Red Gallery and The Angel. All the events went well, especially the sell out shows at Village Underground, which were the only ticketed events (the rest were free).
There is a feature on Russolo’s role in the genesis of electronic music here.
