UK cult producer and founder of the fiercely independent On-U Sound label, Adrian Sherwood performs what is probably the world’s first fully immersive 360 live dub experience on Thursday 7 September at EartH in Dalston, London. Plus Q&A with Ben Osborne and more to be announced.

For the start of EartH and Noise of Art’s 3D-constructed series, Adrian Sherwood has designed a unique performance of brand new material, developed in his Dolby Atmos studio and designed for the venue’s unique L-Acoustics 96 channel, hyper-real L-Isa sound system.

Parsing together individual sounds, fragments and instruments from rare and unheard sessions from On-U luminaries and long-time collaborators (including Lee “Scratch” Perry, Tackhead, African Head Charge and Mark Stewart), Sherwood has reconstructed an entirely new set of compositions, rebuilt from the ground up, and presented it in ways never heard before. This promises to be a psychedelic sonic dub revolution – a very rare night not to be missed.

3D-constructed is a new, groundbreaking series exploring the paradigm-changing world of three dimensional audio in live events. Created in partnership between Noise of Art, EartH and L-Acoustic, the forward-looking programme works in-depth with pioneering artists, such as Jazzie B/ Soul II Soul and Martyn Ware (Human League/ Heaven 17), creating new music that explores these radically new artistic possibilities. Working with spatial music in both the live and club music settings, the events reconstruct iconic records and sounds to probe the future of immersive audio. A Q&A with the artists at each event will discuss the creative process, before the music is reconstructed in 3D and performed over EartH’s unique, immersive L-Acoustics PA.

For more than four decades, Adrian Sherwood has consistently been breaking new ground with his experiments in dub, punk, post-punk and bass music. As the founder of the legendary On-U Sound label he has brought the attention of artists like African Head Charge, Dub Syndicate, Creation Rebel and Tackhead to the fore and produced or remixed everyone from The Slits to Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode to The Fall, Blur to Einsturzende Neubauten. In a similar fashion to the oft heralded release ‘Echo Dek’, a rework of Primal Scream’s seminal ‘Vanishing Point’, he most recently reconstructed indie bohemoth, Spoon’s latest album – the dubbed out companion, ‘Lucifer on the Moon’.

Adrian’s output these last few years has been extraordinary; his studio albums with Lee Scratch Perry in 2019, “Rainford” and it’s tripped out dub companion “Heavy Rain”, were seen as a thrilling return to form for Lee, and “Rainford” found itself in the top slot on the Billboard Reggae chart. In 2022, Adrian continued in this vein with a pair of Horace Andy albums, “Midnight Rocker” and “Midnight Scorchers”. “Midnight Rocker” was crowned Guardian’s #1 Global album of 2022 and Mojo’s 4th best album of the year.
