Record Store Day #1 Weekend Events

Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne is playing three events in Brighton and Woodbridge for the first of two Record Store Day weekends in 2021.

Friday 11 June

Ben Osborne (Noise of Art) returns to Brighton to play a post lockdown set on the eve of a new Slack City radio show. He joins-up one time fellow Medicine Bar (Islington) resident Mick Robinson, at his Kemp Town hot spot, Shortt’s Bar, bringing things full circle with an evening of locked down tunes. Time Out (London) say Ben’s DJ sets “see… punk-funk, deep down and dirty disco do the rounds.”

Brighton music legend Mick Robinson and Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne share the decks at the first Slack City Social at Presuming Ed.

The afternoon of music see Brighton’s new alternative radio station venture out of the studio for a musical social in the bar and garden.

Founder of Brighton’s musically themed hotel Pelirocco, and current owner of Monty Platters, Mick Robinson’s musical career includes recording under the Peli Rocco nom de plum in the Nineties for Bolshi records. His DJ sets take in everything from punk and indie to classic disco and rare funk. His Monty Platters show is a regular fixture on Slack City Radio,

Sun Deck Sundays is a twice monthly afternoon into sunset music session on the shores of the River Deben in partnership between The Boathouse Bar & Kitchen and Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music.

For Record Store Day weekend resident DJ, Ben Osborne, is joined by Smoothgroove, a long serving DJ on Ipswich Community Radio who learnt his craft in th early days of the Berlin scene. The afternoon of Balearic beats will also see Ben Gobel join Ben Osborne on sax.

Host DJ Ben Osborne is described as a “polymath” by Time Out and is an award winning creative producer and founder of Noise of Art (“an actual Cathedral of Sound” The Guardian Review). He DJs at festivals and in clubs across Europe.

Guests so far include Chris Coco, Flying Mojito Bros, Simon Lee, Faze Action, Sid LeSarge, Niel Thornton (Disappearing Dining Club) and more…

DJ Ben Osborne is described as a “polymath” by Time Out. He’s an award winning creative producer and founder of Noise of Art (“an actual Cathedral of Sound” The Guardian). He DJs internationally at festivals and his career includes pioneering late night music events in art institutions in London and DJ residencies in clubs across Europe. He’s also a journalist and author and has presented shows on Xfm, NME Radio and Slack City Radio.
